Native macOS voice input

Just talk. It's written.

Speak naturally, and Silu transcribes and polishes on the fly — then drops the finished text right where you're typing, in any app. It cleans up how you said it, never what you said.

Try it free — speak ~1,000 words every day, forever. No card required.

Messy in, clean out

You ramble. Silu writes it up.

Repetition, filler words, thinking out loud, even mixed languages — Silu straightens it out in real time and hands you text you can send as-is.

What you say

“Um… so, like, I was thinking, could we maybe push the deadline back a bit? because the design isn’t, uh, finalized yet, so — yeah, let’s just do that for now.”

What Silu writes

Could we push the deadline back a little? The design isn’t finalized yet, so let’s keep this pace for now.

um · uh · likefiller, dropped “so — yeah…”rambling, tightened the questionstays a question nothing addedno “please” you didn’t say

Faithful by design

It writes what you said — not what it thinks you meant.

Every voice AI promises to “clean up” your speech. Most quietly rewrite you along the way: reordering your story, swapping your words, turning your English into a translation. Silu treats your wording as the thing to protect — and enforces it in the engine, not just in the prompt.

Your order stays your order

Remember something at the end and tack it on? It stays at the end. Silu never shuffles your account into “tidier” chronological order — the order you told it in is part of what you said.

Under the hood: a server-side check compares the draft against your original sequence. If anything was moved, the whole thing is redone on a different model.

Your words stay your words

No politeness added that you didn’t say. No synonym quietly swapped in. A question stays a question, and a flowing paragraph is never chopped into a bulleted list.

Why it holds: the rules are written as concrete do/don’t precedents from real cases — abstract instructions never survive a model’s instinct to sound formal.

English stays English

Dictate in English and you get English back. No silent “helpful” translation into another language, ever — even when a backup engine has to step in.

Under the hood: a language guard compares input and output. On any drift it discards the polished draft and returns your original words instead.

Misheard words fixed from your own text

Mention “bouldering” earlier and a later, similar-sounding word gets corrected to match. Silu only fixes what your own draft already proves — it never guesses a word out of thin air.

The test: if the right word isn’t already somewhere in what you said, it’s left exactly as heard.

What it does

One key each. Five things you’ll use daily.

Everything runs from a keystroke, wherever you already are — nothing to open, nothing to paste.

01Your key

Dictate in any app

Press your shortcut and talk — text appears right at your cursor. Email, chat, docs, code. No copy-paste, no switching windows.

And what lands is the finished version: no rough draft first, no “corrected version” popping up later to interrupt you.

02⌥1 ⌥2 ⌥3

Polished as it goes ★ Best at this

Filler dropped, wording straightened, a long thought split into readable paragraphs — what lands is ready to send. Talk for eight minutes straight and you still get one finished draft, not a raw transcript.

⌥1 Formal⌥2 Script⌥3 Verbatim

Three registers, switchable mid-sentence. Bilingual? Code-switching comes out perfectly clean.

03⌥T

Say it in one language, get another

Say it in your own language and a natural translation lands at your cursor — and it works both ways. English, Dutch, German, French and more; emails, replies, cross-language work in one step.

04⌥Space

Ask out loud

Ask a question by voice and get the answer right where you are — look something up, do quick math, check a phrasing, without leaving what you’re doing.

05⌥R

Rewrite what’s already on screen

Select any text in any app, press ⌥R and just say how you want it — “make this more formal”, “cut it in half”, “turn this into bullet points”. The selection is replaced in place, so editing becomes something you say rather than something you retype.

Works everywhere

Wherever you type, you can talk.

Silu is system-wide input, not a plug-in for one app — Gmail, Slack, Notion, your browser, your editor… anywhere on your Mac with a text field.

FAQ

You might be wondering

How is my voice and data handled?

Your audio is sent to speech-recognition and AI services to produce text, then returned to you; it’s processed transiently, not archived, and never used for ad profiles or sold. We collect only what’s needed to run the service — email, usage, subscription status. See our Privacy Policy.

Which Macs are supported?

macOS 14 (Sonoma) and later, on both Apple Silicon (M-series) and Intel. Silu is notarized by Apple and installs directly from our site — no App Store.

How do I cancel? Is it a hassle?

Cancel anytime in the app or the Stripe customer portal. It simply stops renewing; you keep access to the end of the period you’ve paid for. See our Refund Policy.

Does it work offline?

Silu’s real-time transcription, polishing, translation, and Q&A rely on cloud AI, so a connection is needed for the best results. Those features aren’t available offline.

Does it really handle mixed languages?

Yes — it’s a case Silu is built for. Code-switching (including mixed Chinese-English) comes out with the right spacing, punctuation, and capitalization, ready to send.

How is this different from macOS built-in dictation?

Built-in dictation transcribes you literally — filler, repetition and false starts included, punctuation left to you. Silu hands you a finished draft: filler dropped, wording straightened, paragraphs in place, ready to send. And the same shortcuts also translate, answer questions, and rewrite — none of which built-in dictation does.

Accents, fast talkers, noisy rooms — do I need a special mic?

No special hardware — your Mac’s built-in microphone is all it takes, and normal indoor noise is fine. Speak at your natural pace; no need to slow down or over-articulate. Accented speech and mixed-language speech are scenarios Silu is specifically tuned for.

What about names, jargon, and technical terms?

Silu keeps a personal dictionary (⌘7): add your advisor’s name, company jargon, or field-specific terms, and both recognition and polishing prefer your words. Corrections you make while proofreading are learned into it automatically, and it syncs with your account across Macs.

How does the free daily allowance work?

Every account can speak about 1,000 words a day for free (metered by voice time, roughly 7 minutes) — resets daily, no card required. Like it, then subscribe to Silu Pro.

What exactly is different between Free and Pro?

Three things: the daily allowance (about 1,000 words a day vs about 8,500 — 7 minutes of voice vs a full hour), the AI model tier (Pro runs the smartest models for polishing, rewriting, translation and questions — deeper and more natural), and voice questions (10 vs 60 a day). The speech-recognition engine is the same on both.

Does Silu change what I actually said?

No — that’s the line we hold hardest. Silu removes filler and tidies the delivery, but it doesn’t reorder your account, swap your word choices, turn statements into questions, or translate you into another language. Those aren’t just instructions to the AI: the server compares the draft against your original for reordering or a language switch, and redoes or discards it when either shows up. See Faithful by design.

Will I lose what I said if the audio gets interrupted mid-recording?

No. When a system sound grabs the audio or your Bluetooth headset switches over, Silu swaps to a fresh audio engine and keeps recording seamlessly — everything captured so far is kept, and the overlay notes that recording resumed. Only if the device truly disconnects does it wrap up safely and transcribe what it has.

How long can a single dictation be?

Up to 8 minutes in one go — roughly 2,600 words — and you still get one finished, paragraphed draft rather than a raw transcript. What appears at your cursor is the final version: Silu doesn’t drop in a rough take and then interrupt you later with a “corrected” one.

Is the app in English, or just the website?

The app is fully bilingual — every screen, setting, and even the hands-on onboarding exercises are native English or Chinese, following your macOS language. It isn’t a half-translated port: all 913 interface strings ship in both languages.

How does my subscription activate?

It follows your account: after payment, sign in with the same email on any Mac and Pro is live — no license keys. Manage or cancel anytime via the Stripe customer portal, one click inside the app.

Which languages are supported?

Dictation is strongest in English and Chinese (mixed-language speech is a specialty); translation supports many target languages (English, Dutch, German, French, and growing) — speak one language, insert another.

Why do I need an account?

Your daily free allowance and subscription live on your account, not on one machine — switch Macs or reinstall without losing anything; your personal dictionary syncs along.

I got a new Mac — is my subscription still there?

Yes. Install Silu on the new Mac, sign in with the same email, and Pro plus your personal dictionary come right back.

Can I get an invoice or expense this?

Payments run through Stripe, which emails a receipt automatically; EU businesses can enter a VAT ID at checkout (reverse charge). Need other paperwork? Write to support@silu.pro.

Your next paragraph? Just say it.

Try it free — speak ~1,000 words every day, forever. The first time it writes what you said, you won’t go back to typing.
